UT Prevention Center (UT PRC) created It’s Your Game.
The University of Texas Prevention Research Center (UTPRC) brings together accomplished researchers and dedicated community leaders to achieve a common goal: improve the health and well-being of children and adolescents across Texas.
The UTPRC was founded in 1986 as one of the first three centers in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Prevention Research Center Program. It is part of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health, which is located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, and includes regional campuses in Dallas, Brownsville, El Paso, Austin, and San Antonio.
The UTPRC’s mission is to improve child and adolescent health by establishing a collaboration of academic, public health, and community partnerships engaged in scholarly, community-based prevention research, research translation, and education.
Ongoing collaboration with community, governmental, medical, and academic agencies is key to the UTPRC’s success because investigators depend on these partnerships to complete their research projects. The UTPRC provides training and education opportunities, such as the Adolescent Sexual Health Summer Course, to agency staff, community members, and extramural researchers.
