Belinda F. Hernandez, PhD
Dr. Hernandez is an assistant professor of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences for The University of Texas School of Public Health’s San Antonio campus. She has extensive research experience with adolescents, minority populations, intervention development, evaluation and dissemination. She works closely with Texas school districts to help them adopt and implement evidence-based sexual health programs. She has also worked with the state and San Antonio health departments to evaluate their current teen pregnancy prevention efforts. Recently, Dr. Hernandez expanded her research to military-dependent youth and their families. She led a pilot project that examined the association between risky sexual behaviors and military stressors – one of the first projects to study in depth the sexual behaviors of military-dependent youth.
