Michael Tornes is an Administrative Assistant I / Research Assistant I at the ETR Oakland office. He started working for ETR in January of 2017. He has over 5 years of research experience from his time as a graduate student in communication studies. In addition, he has over a year of administrative experience from working as an editorial assistant for the journal Rhetoric & Public Affairs.
Dr. Tornes received his PhD in communication studies from the University of Oklahoma, where his focus was in organizational communication. During this time, three of the studies he worked on were published in academic journals and other studies were accepted to academic conferences. He received his MA in communication studies from Baylor University, and his BA in history from Texas A&M University.
His professional interests revolve around conducting research in all stages of a study. These stages include data collection, data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative data) and report writing. He has experience distributing surveys, conducting interviews and using analysis software such as SPSS and NVivo.
